KATHMANDU, OCT 12,
If you are planning to purchase jewellery, Tihar is a good time to do it. Most shops dealing in gold and diamond jewellery have put out their best designs and an extensive line-up with an eye on the upcoming festival. Traders said that sales soar more than three-fold during this period.
So during this festive season, we urge you not to miss visiting three popular jewellery stores—Shree Ridhi Sidhi Jewellers and Shree Ganapati Jewellers at Bishal Bazaar, New Road and Ebisu Jewellers at Durbar Marg, Kathmandu. These stores are ready to greet you with products that have been specially designed for Tihar and Dhantirash.
Shree Ridhi Sidhi Jewellers has launched a new brand targeting Tihar and Dhantirash. According to Narendra Kumar Gupta, chairman of Shree Ridhi Sidhi Jewellers, they have come up with their own brand “Akbari” for the festival season. “Jewellery items under the Akbari label are fused with Kundan as most people tend to go for Kundan jewellery during Tihar and Dhantirash,” said Gupta. According to him, Kundan is a form of gold jewellery in which highly refined gold is used along with a material called lac, a natural resin made from hardened tree sap.
Shree Ridhi Sidhi’s endeavour to cash in on the festive mood does not end here. The company is also coming up with another brand named “Speaking Gold” before Tihar. “This is also our own brand. Nepali designers have designed each and every jewellery item under a theme, and the jewellery tells some story,” said Gupta. For diamond lovers, the store has a wide variety under the Ashwarya label, a premium Indian brand.
Meanwhile, Ebisu Jewellers has revamped its overall collection. “Tihar is the time when most people tend to go for jewellery. Therefore, the store will be fully furnished with new stock,” said Niraj Goyal, managing director of Ebisu Jewellers.
As far as the designs are concerned, the store is coming with both traditional and updated designs. “We want to make sure that our products will be able to satisfy the requirements of customers from all age groups and backgrounds,” said Goyal. The store will mostly focus on fast moving golden jewellery items like ear rings, finger rings, necklaces and diamond pendants. “The market during this period is very crucial for us. Like in previous years, we are expecting more than a two-fold growth in sales,” Goyal said.
Likewise, Shree Ganapati Jewellers has come up with around 60 new designs of gold jewellery. According to one of the staff, the store is coming up with around 90 more varieties before Tihar. “We are featuring every possible design that can attract Nepali customers. However, our major focus will remain on Kundan jewellery as it is in greater demand during the festival,” said a staff member. The store has also focused on diamond jewellery as it has become more popular of late. source : ekantipur.com
