KATHMANDU: Land Reform and Management Minister Bhim Prasad Gautam on Saturday has said the genuine landless squatters of the bank of the Bagmati River will be evicted only after making an arrangement for them.
Speaking at an interaction organised by the Reporters Club in the capital today, Minister Gautam said the government will get a way out for the genuine landless squatters.
Gautam asked the concerned organization to furnish the details of the genuine landless squatters and find out lodgings for them. “The government will pay the bill for their lodgings,” he said, adding “The genuine squatters should also be ready to go out of the valley where the government will find an arrangement for them.”
On the other hand, the irate landless squatters have taken a strong exception to the statement of the minister. All Nepal Landless Squatters’ Association Chairman Dipak Rai warned of stir against the government if it overlooked their demand.
Integrated Development of the Bagmati Civilization Committee Chairman vehemently stated that they are committed to evict the squatters from the bank of the Bagmati River which, he said, will be initiated after the Appellate Court’s order on Saturday.
