One killed‚ 36 injured in Danda bus mishap

NAWALPARASI: A person died and 36 others have been injured when a bus hit a parked truck at Danda of Nawalparasi along Mahendra Highway on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Yogeshwor Yogi, 67, father of the bus driver, Ramu Yogi, informed Prem Shrestha, ASI at the District Traffic Office, Nawalparasi. Yogeshwor, who was rushed to a local hospital following the incident, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

The injured have been admitted to various hospitals in Bharatpur. Among them, seven are reported to be in to be in critical condition.

A team of police deployed from Area Police Office, Kawasoti had rescued the passengers who were squeezed inside the bus. DSP Mukunda Marasini headed the team.

Most of the passengers are identified as the bus driver’s relatives, police confirmed. However, detail information of the injured is yet to be known.
