KAPLIVASTU: The inflow of tourists has surged in Tilaurakot, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, when there are few days to go to bid farewell to the Nepal Tourism Year-2011.
Number of foreign tourists visiting the tourism site enriched with archeological and historical importance has abruptly gone up almost at the end of the tourism year.
As many as 23,300 foreign tourists excluding Indians had arrived Tilaurakot during the first 11 months of the year. Around 1,500 Indian nationals turned up the historical site during the period.
Likewise, 700 foreigners visited the place during the period from first to third week of December.
According to the records of attendance book kept at Lumbini Development Trust, Tilaurakot, score of domestic tourists visiting the Lord Buddha;s birthplace stood at 1,434.
