KATHMANDU, AUG 12 - The Nepali defender has attracted interest from English fifth division side Kettering Town FC who play in the Blue Square League.
Chand, 19, is set to travel to England this or next week to play some matches for Kettering, a club based in Northamptonshire.
Unlike last time when he was rumoured to be in the transfer radar of English premiership sides Arsenal and Tottenham, he confirmed the reports. He said the visa works are going on and
he will travel to England anytime soon.
“This is a great opportunity. My dreams to play in England are slowly materalising. I will give my best to please them,” said Chand.
Chand will be playing at least four matches with Kettering but his performance is said to be monitored by various English and French clubs. English side Tottenham and French top flight club Rennes are said to be the key observers.
Nepal coach Graham Roberts said he was working hard to get Rohit to the UK. Goalnepal.com quoted Roberts as saying: “I just got information from my agent that French side Rennes has also shown interest in him”, Roberts said. “But Rohit will go to UK first and will train with KTFC for a week. The scouts from Arsenal, Tottenham and other clubs will watch him in the matches that KTFC play. He will also play against Tottenham. Rohit needs to prove his worth. He needs to perform 150% on the pitch during the trial period”.
According to bluesqfootball.com, Chand’s agent, Jonathan Hope, said the Nepali defender could turn down interest from English top division sides Arsenal and Tottenham.
