MAKAR SHRESTHA 8 KATHMANDU, AUG 27 - UCPN (Maoist) Vice Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has claimed that he would become the next prime minister of the nation.
Talking to the reporters after a meeting with Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party Chairman Narayan Man Bijukchhe at the latter’s residence in Kamal Binayak, Bhaktapur on Saturday, the Maoist vice chair and a prime ministerial candidate said that he would win the Sunday’s prime ministerial elections.
He expressed his belief that the Madhes-based parties and the fringe parties would vote for him—which gives his party enough votes to win the elections.
The Maoists, with 236 votes, will be able to form a government if the Madhesi Morcha (66 votes) supports Bhattarai. The Nepali Congress, on the other hand, with only 114 votes will need a combined support of the CPN-UML, Morcha and fringe parties. source: ekantipur.com
