KHOTANG: Most of the public offices in Khotang, centralized in the district headquarters, and which saw displacement and destruction during the period of Maoist insurgency, have not yet been reconstructed and rehabilitated.
Locals are reeling under tough time when the offices meant for providing public services have not yet been reinstated though the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) has clearly stated the provision of reconstruction.
Communities of northern Aiselukharka – some 17 miles away from the headquarters – have demanded for the reinstatement of public offices shifted out from the local area during the conflict period.
The local communities including political parties leaders had registered joint application for the immediate revival of Area Administration Office, Rastriya Banijya Bank, Agriculture Development Bank and Land Revenue Office.
In response to the application, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Khotang, Shivaram Gelal pledged to extend cooperation for the revival of public bodies to the possible extent.
Meanwhile, the locals also demanded with CDO Gelal to take action against contractor Prem Lama saying they have been hit hard when the construction works of the primary health office that started five years ago have not been completed due to carelessness of contractor Lama.
